Tool for spatial orientation

To make it easier to orient yourself spatially when working with the atlas, all map frames can now be viewed on Google Maps or downloaded as KML files for Google Earth.

The red frame shows the location and boundaries of the space shown on the map. Distortions and bends of the otherwise rectangular map frames are caused by the map projections used.

Map comparisons between map images from the atlas, satellite images and Google base maps are thus also possible and lead to new insights into space and its geographical characteristics.
